Aluminum carpentry, as we know it today, has its roots in constructive solutions such as the one we see in this image: a mixed iron and aluminum window<\/strong>, common in buildings in Barcelona around 1975.<\/p>\n\n

This system consisted of a main structure made of iron profile<\/strong>, which provided rigidity and structural strength, while the glazing beads were made of aluminum<\/strong>, used to hold the glass more easily and offer better resistance to corrosion. This detail marked a technical turning point: aluminum began to be introduced in strategic areas of the windows because of its lightness, durability and ease of machining<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n

It was a hybrid solution that optimized the resources available at the time, combining the best of both materials. From a technical perspective, we can say that this system was the first step towards the specialization of the aluminum carpentry trade<\/strong>, differentiating it little by little from traditional metal carpentry. <\/p>\n\n

Today, this typology is considered the functional and technical origin of modern aluminum carpentry<\/strong>, which has evolved into today’s systems with thermal bridge break, extruded profiles, multipoint closures and high performance glazing.<\/p>\n\n
