The history of Carpintería de Aluminio Ponsico began in 1971, when Francisco Ponsico graduated with honors from the metalworking program at the Escola Industrial de Barcelona. From that point on, he began taking on his first projects for friends and family, combining his training, passion, and technical skill. This period marked the beginning of a professional career that has been rooted in the metalworking industry and a commitment to a job well done from the very start.

In 1975, Francisco Ponsico got his start in the world of aluminum carpentry, balancing his job in industrial maintenance at Claved S.A. with work alongside some friends in the construction industry. He partnered with his brother-in-law, José Cangueiro, and with the indispensable support of his wife, Teresa Canguerio, setting up shop “informally” in a space on Industria Street in the Navas neighborhood of Barcelona.

In 1984, Francisco, together with his friend José Cañas, officially founded a small aluminum fabrication shop in the Navas neighborhood of Barcelona, at the intersection of Felipe II and Palencia streets, under the name RUSERLI, in honor of his only children at the time (Ruben, Sergio, and Lídia).

In 1986, José Cañas left the business; Francisco then went into partnership with José Fernández, the headquarters moved to Meridiana Avenue within the same neighborhood, and the company changed its name to its current one, Carpintería de Aluminio Ponsico.

In 1987, the headquarters moved to 29 Murcia Street in the same neighborhood, where the current exhibition space and office are located.

In 1988, for personal reasons, José Fernandez left the company, and Teresa Canguerio officially joined the company as a partner, balancing the care of her three children (ages 2, 8, and 10) with management, administrative, accounting, and customer service duties.

During the 1990s, the company reached the height of its success, employing up to 8 people, relying on craftsmanship and teamwork, personalized service for individual customers, and avoiding large-scale construction projects (which entail significant risk despite high net profits) or advertising campaigns beyond “word of mouth” among our family members and customers.

During the first decade of the 21st century, coinciding with Rubén Ponsico’s (the eldest son of Francisco and Teresa) joining the company full-time, the machining shop moved to the premises at 33 Murcia Street, expanding both its machining capacity and inventory storage as well as its showroom space (at 29 Murcia Street), enabling the company to offer better customer service and more competitive prices.

In the first half of the 2010s, a period marked by the economic crisis, Carpintería de Aluminio Ponsico decided to take a leap forward and embrace new technologies by creating this website and accounts on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, with the goal of reaching new customers and providing them with better service (by showcasing our products and services) and incorporating the latest technological advancements in the industry, such as new materials (for thermal, acoustic, and light insulation) and automated systems (motors, light and wind sensors, remote and online controls, etc.).
